Motion:

To request from the Commissioner of the RCMP that the CPI Centre receive sufficient funding to reimburse travel and accommodation expenses for voting members of the CPIC Advisory Committee and all its sub-committees when the respective members are required to travel to the National Capital Region in relation to committee meetings - Carried

ITSC Annual Report

Use of Two Factor Authentication in Communications Facilities:

Whereas, the CPIC Advisory Committee has endorsed the use of two-factor authentication (2FA);

Whereas, the CPIC user base consists of a wide variety of diverse configurations to deliver communication services; and

Whereas, it is recognized that not all organizations will find that the use of two-factor authentication supports their entire range of operational requirements.

Be it therefore resolved, that the use of two-factor authentication is required in all locations except as noted below

• In the case of dedicated multi-position communications centre with elevated physical security; and
• While the use of two-factor authentication for CAD (as noted in exception 1 above) is a recommended practice, use of alternative procedures will be considered through the submission of an NCACR to document authentication processes and to be used by the organization to remain compliant with the CPIC Policy.
• Alternative authentication procedures may include leveraging audio logging, application user identification tools, and manual logging capabilities.
