Migration of the National Integrated Interagency Information (N-III) Centre within the Canadian Police Information Centre

In the fall of 2010, the National Integrated Interagency Information Centre (N-III) officially moved under the direction of the Canadian Police Information Centre; integrating the Police Information Portal (PIP) and the Integrated Query Tool (IQT) with CPIC.

This migration enables the CPI Centre to leverage several years of experience, good governance and corporate knowledge in the field of information sharing and exchange, and allows for efficiencies in areas of governance, policy and quality assurance. This creates a true “one stop shopping” approach for Police and Public Safety Agencies seeking access to this suite of Police and Public Safety information sources.

The N-III logo will now be retired and replaced with the legacy CPIC logo which has been the primary police information system since 1969. In addition, and to further promote consistency in terminology, the term “Integrated Query Tool” or IQT, will be updated to “Public Safety Portal” or PSP. This term better represents the role information sharing plays not only from our Police Partners’ perspective but also with Public Safety Agencies when accessing CPIC, PIP or PSP.

Over the next several months, the CPI Centre Program Policy team will be working towards modifying or changing references to N-III and IQT in all reference, training and user manuals as well as in all communication materials.
